Founded by Burt Nelson in 1960
In 1960, Burt Nelson picked up a brush and started what would become one of the longest-running painting companies in Southeastern Massachusetts. Working out of Plymouth, Burt built his reputation the old-fashioned way: one job at a time, one satisfied customer at a time, one referral at a time.
Burt believed that preparation was the difference between a paint job that lasts two years and one that lasts ten. He sanded when others skipped it. He primed when others cut corners. He caulked every gap and puttied every nail hole. That preparation-first philosophy became the foundation of everything Nelson Painting stands for.
For over five decades, Burt poured his life into this trade. When he passed away in 2013, he left behind more than a business. He left behind a standard of craftsmanship that his family carries forward every single day.
Marc Nelson Carries the Torch Forward
Marc Nelson grew up watching his father work. He learned to cut a clean edge before he learned to drive. When Burt passed, there was never a question about what Marc would do. He took the family business and kept building on the foundation his father laid.
Today, Marc personally walks every property before providing an estimate. He wants to see the surfaces, understand the scope, and have an honest conversation about what the job actually requires. No pressure, no upselling -- just a straightforward assessment from someone who has been doing this his entire life.
Now Marc Nelson Jr. -- the third generation -- works alongside his father on the crew. The same values that Burt instilled are being passed down again: take your time with prep, use the best materials available, and never leave a job until the customer is genuinely satisfied.
