We work that way on pre-1978 property as standard, and it is not something we will negotiate away on a rental unit.

Can you bring our unit into compliance with the lead law?

Why do you always want to look at the back stairs first?

Because on a two- or three-family the rear stair tower is the second means of egress for every unit above the ground floor, and it is the most weather-beaten structure on the building.
